There can be confusion about who is responsible for maintaining and repairing residential electrical equipment. This information is a reference to help identify the utility owned equipment (see black) versus the customer owned equipment (see grey), please see diagrams below.
HG&E provides, installs, maintains, and repairs all of the following equipment:
- Meter
- Service wire (first 125 feet are provided at no cost)
- Service connection point
- Transformer
- Pole
- Supply side of transformer (not shown)
Cutsomer or electrician provides, installs, maintains, and repairs all of the following equipment:
- Weatherhead
- House hook/anchor
- Guy wire
- Service mast
- Service entrance cable
- Meter socket
- Riser conduit
- Wiring and electrical panel inside the house (not shown)
