HG&E’s Residential Energy Assistance Program (REAP) provides financial assistance at 0% interest to qualfying HG&E customers for the implementation of various energy efficiency and electrification projects that meet certain requirements. Below is information for installers on the process to help guide you through this program.
Step 1: Customer receives a quote from an installer for a qualifying project. Each project must meet certain project-specific requirements, which are available on our REAP webpage.
Step 2: The customer submits an application to HG&E with a copy of their quote and how much in assistance they would like to request. It takes about 2-3 days for HG&E to review a customer’s application. The assistance can be repaid over a period of up to 5 years and the maxium amount ranges from $10,000 to $25,000 depending on the project and building type.
Step 3: If the application is approved, the customer is sent a contract to sign and return, agreeing to the assistance amount and the repayment term. The customer then typically moves forward with the project.
Step 4: After the project is completed, the installer needs to complete a post-installation form.
Step 5: Once we have received the completed post-installation form and the signed contract, it usually takes about 3-4 more weeks for the customer to receive the payment, assuming that the project/customer is still in compliance with the program requirements. Because customers must wait 3-4 weeks to receive the payment, some customers seek out installers who are willing to wait to receive the payment.
In addition to the REAP program, HG&E has a variety of rebates and incentives available. A full list of residential incentives can be seen at on our Residential Rebates and Incentives webpage. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions about our programs going forward.
