Record Cold Temperatures Cause Increase in Consumption

February 18, 2015:

It’s been a frigid start to 2015, with record cold temperatures in January and February.  Due to increased consumption during these cold winter months, customers throughout New England are experiencing higher heating bills. Rate Comparison November 2014-April 2015

January 2015 was approximately 15% colder than the 20 year average, while February has been close to 30% colder than the 20 year average (see Accuweather data).

Although HG&E has kept rates low, we understand that heating bills reflect higher customer consumption.  If you need to make a payment plan, or would like to inquire about eligibility for heating assistance, please contact HG&E at (413) 536-9300. We are here to help!
