To date, seventeen utility scale solar projects have been developed and commissioned in Holyoke, totaling 17.82 MW of installed capacity. HG&E partnered with private firms on all solar projects in order to realize maximum benefits from various incentives available, thus ensuring that the cost of energy for HG&E ratepayers stays low. Capital and operational costs for the facilities are being paid by each respective private developer. In turn, HG&E is entered into long term power sales agreements to purchase power generated from the facilities at rates below those of the wholesale power market.

Through solar generation, HG&E is ensuring that electricity rates remain low, while protecting the environment. Combined generation from the facilities displaces enough fossil fuel generation to prevent over 16,553 tons of Carbon Dioxide which is equivalent to taking over 3,216 cars off of the road.
